The short version
We collect only what we need to run this platform. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with real estate agents, lenders, or advertisers without your explicit permission. You can delete your account and all your data at any time.
What information we collect
Information you give us: When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and the details you enter about your home and transaction — property address, estimated value, notes, contract fields, and anything else you type into the platform.
Information collected automatically: When you use Homeowner OS we collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is standard web traffic data and is used only to keep the platform running and to detect abuse.
Cookies: We use cookies to keep you logged in and to understand how people use the platform. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
Payment information: We use Stripe to process payments. We never see or store your full credit card number. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide the platform features you signed up for
- Save your contracts, notes, and transaction progress
- Send you account-related emails (password resets, billing receipts)
- Improve the platform based on how people use it
- Detect fraud and prevent abuse
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not build a profile of you to sell to third parties.
Who we share your information with
We share data only in these limited situations:
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), MongoDB (database), Anthropic (AI guidance). These companies process your data only on our behalf and are bound by strict data protection agreements.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect against fraud or illegal activity.
- With your permission: If you choose to share your transaction with a professional on the platform (such as an attorney), you control what they can see.
We never sell your information to real estate agents, lenders, title companies, iBuyers, or anyone else.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (such as payment history for tax purposes, which we keep for 7 years as required by the IRS).
Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g. "X% of users viewed the FSBO pathway") may be retained indefinitely because they cannot identify you.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any information that is wrong
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt out of any marketing emails (one click in any email we send)

Security
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices. No system is 100% secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Children
Homeowner OS is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you by email and update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
